Selling Your Business in the New Econmy

I have been asked several times in the past 12 months...."Can I sell my business now that my sales have dipped from our bad economy?"

In the beginning I would just tell everyone to just hold on for awhile since the banks are not loaning money and buyers are very skeptical.  Now I feel the market has stabilized enough that we can show where our business are realistically at.  This goes along way in giving buyers comfort.  Your business may be down 40%, but at least we know it's not going down another 40%.  A buyer can look at the financials and future earnings and be comfortable that if nothing changes and the business is run the same it will at least be at the same level it is now.  If the buyer has new ideas and capital to put in the business then the possibilities for good growth are there.  In addition buyers are able to see that they are going to get a deal.
